Zandvoort, August 27, 1978: At the XXVI Dutch Grand Prix (race 13 of the Formula 1 World Championship) , Mario Andretti controlled the action and led teammate Ronnie Peterson – despite crashes at the start (Patrese/Pironi) and subsequent delays due to technical and tire problems. Behind the Lotus duo, the Brabhams of Niki Lauda and John Watson secured P3 and P4, respectively. Emerson Fittipaldi finished fifth, and Gilles Villeneuve took P6 after overtaking Reutemann. The Lotus one-two increased Andretti's lead in the World Championship: Peterson remained within reach with a deficit of 12 points, but was contractually tied to the No. 2 spot. With a 28-point advantage over Lauda and only three races remaining (maximum 27 points), Andretti was virtually crowned 1978 World Champion .

Our art print is a homage to the sensational season, to Marion Andretti as world champion in 1978 and to his legendary car: the Lotus 79 .
