The twelfth Spa-Francorchamps 1000 km race took place on September 4, 1983. Jacky Ickx and Jochen Mass, among others, started for the factory Porsche Team Rothmans in the Porsche 956 with chassis number 005. The two drivers were able to repeat their success from 1982, crossing the finish line as overall winners after 144 laps with a time of 5:44:33.
