On July 15, 1984, Ayrton Senna drove his only sports car race. As part of the 30th International ADAC 1,000 km Race, he drove the Porsche 956 , chassis No. 104, for the Joest Racing team. He shared the cockpit with Henri Pescarolo and Stefan Johansson. After initially easily keeping up with the leaders, Senna lost about 15 minutes in the pits due to a clutch problem. Nevertheless, the team managed to achieve a respectable 8th place.
