With the surprise entry of the Salzburg Porsche Team in the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans, the long-awaited overall victory was finally achieved. Louise Piëch , the daughter of Ferdinand Porsche , had two 917s brought to Le Mans through her Salzburg-basedPorsche Holding company : a 917 Longtail and the 917K (chassis no. 023) with Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood at the wheel. The latter won the race after a turbulent and very rainy 24 hours.
