The Porsche 906 , known as the Carrera 6 , represents a milestone in the racing history of Porsche KG. Delivered from spring 1966, the coupé is based on the Porsche 906 Bergspyder, which had already been used in the European Hill Climb Championship in 1965. It is the direct successor to the legendary Porsche 904.
In 1966, the factory team competed with the 906 in the Sports Car World Championship and the European Hill Climb Championship, achieving impressive success. Porsche triumphed in the Manufacturers' World Championship in both the 2-liter Prototype and 2-liter Sports Car classes.
From 1967 to 1971, the Porsche 906 was increasingly fielded by private teams, competing in the World Sports Car Championship, the European Hill Climb Championship, and national competitions. The car remains a significant chapter in Porsche's success story and continues to delight racing enthusiasts worldwide.
