Battle at Mulsanne by Roger Tugwood
Le Mans 1970. 917 K against 512 S. Michael Delaney (Steve McQueen) in the Porsche 917k #20 engages in a bitter duel with Erich Stahler (Siegfried Rauch) in Ferrari 512S # 8. This fight went down in history as Steve McQueen's film " Le Mans". Inspired by the film, English CGI artist Roger Tugwood used the latest computer technology and a lot of talent to create an image that perfectly captures the intensity of this race.
In the real 24-hour race of Le Mans in 1970, Joseph Siffert and Brian Redman would have contested this duel in the John Wyer Porsche against Arture Merzario and Clay Regazzoni in the SpA Ferrari SEFAC. In truth, however, the Porsche was far superior to the Ferrari, so that the battle for first place was fought out solely among Porsche teams. Ultimately, Team Salzburg drove to the first overall victory for Porsche.

The Porsche 917 was launched in 1969 and became one of the most successful racing sports cars of the 1970s. Its special significance for Porsche lies in having achieved overall victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time. The car also achieved several other overall victories in the then large cubic capacity class.
