The Pink Pig*
The “Pig” was definitely not designed to be beautiful, even though it is a brilliant exercise in aerodynamics.
Legend has it that it was originally supposed to make its debut in the colors of the Martini sponsor, but Count Rossi had a different opinion. After taking a look at the unusually shaped vehicle, he refused to let it compete in the famous red and blue stripes.
Porsche then decided to paint the car in piggy pink to ensure that it would not go unnoticed on the racetrack.
Although the Porsche 917/20 “Pink Pig” (or “Truffle Pig”) was a one-off experiment by the manufacturer, it became a legend through its surprising participation in the 1971 Le Mans race.
